Happy New Year!

Haven't update the blog in awhile, but our store is still going in full blast. We even worked during the Christmas holidays!

As usual, we post a selection of our recent work on our Past Orders page.

Good luck to all the 2010 brides and grooms!

Marrying next year - Is it too early to order?

Happy September! This is the first year this store is operating online, and frankly I'm surprised to be kept as busy as I am by autumn brides. The past month has been filled with rush, last-minute orders for September and October weddings. However, we're definitely heading into the "quieter" winter wedding season, and instead of spending time answering quote requests, recently the most frequently asked question has been: "my wedding is next summer (or spring), when should I place my order?"

It's entirely up to you, but the short answer would be "as soon as possible", and there are lots of good reasons for it! Listing a few...

- we use materials that don't really have an expiry date anytime soon (that is, within a decade or more, for example: feathers, dried plants)
- if budget is a concern: placing an order during the low season more likely results in bigger discounts, because I can take the time to find good prices for the materials to create your flowers
- having the wedding flowers in your possession solidifies your wedding colour theme... helps a lot especially if you've been indecisive about your colours!

I'll admit I'm quite into good organization and planning. I'm the type of person who likes to do things well ahead of time. If I am a bride-to-be (which I am!!! set for August 2010), I would have no qualms about buying non-perishable wedding items 6 months to 1 year away from my wedding. One less thing to worry about!

Featured by Boutonnieres and Bow Ties

We are honoured to be featured by Samantha in her blog Boutonniere and Bow Ties! I love her blog because it has the grooms in mind. She also runs 9tailors, the place to buy the custom-made (where DIY stands for "design-it-yourself") dress shirts. If you're ever stuck on how to dress your groom, send a picture of your wedding dress to weddings@9tailors.com and I'm sure Samantha and her tailors will find the perfect match! What a great idea!

A good kind of busy...

Too busy to blog, and for a very happy reason! Blue Flourish is still quite a new store, and I'm happy with the way things have been going. I've been busy all weekend long working on eight different orders. So far the feedback has been very positive! Thank you for everyone's support!

With that, brides wishing to order should contact me as soon as possible with their wedding date and size of their order. Bookings are confirmed after payment, but at least it's a good idea to make sure my availability works with your date. I would never take on more than I can handle, so to ensure the best quality in each order. Thanks!

Getting ready for a fall wedding

Working on Ginna's boutonniere order. This reddish brown is so beautiful! Reminds me of the leaves turning colour in the autumn. Perfect for Ginna's wedding in November!
